GIFT Program

Who: Selected high school and middle school science, technology, math, engineering, healthcare, and agriculture.teachers

What: A 4-7 weeks internship with research scientists & industries to learn the real-world application of the subjects you teach.  5-10 PLU’s offered. 

Where: Albany, Bainbridge, Douglas, Ocilla, Sylvester, Tifton & Valdosta

When: June 4 – July 20     7 Week GIFT Experience

June 11-July 20      6 Week GIFT Experience

June 18 –July 20    5 Week GIFT Experience

June 25-July 20      4 Week GIFT Experience

If dates conflict with professional or personal plans, arrangements can be made.

Stipend: $728 a week – Housing available in Tifton at your expense.

Sea Turtle Ecology on Ossabaw Island June 24-27, 2012

Experience one of Georgia’s barrier islands accessible only by boat, and learn about sea turtles that return here to lay eggs. Beach walks, classroom resources, and learn about the barrier island ecosystem and relate the life cycle, migration, and nesting habits of the sea turtle to Georgia Performance Standards. This course is open to all educators K-12. The fee of $425 includes three night’s lodging, meals, snacks, and round trip boat ride from Savannah. You also get 3 PLU’s! Picture Perfect Science Training

This course will provide participants with the opportunity to study how children’s literature integration in science instruction meets standards and promotes student achievement. Participants will learn appropriate techniques from the 5-E method of science inquiry, and will also apply their knowledge to adapt and/or create activities for use in their classrooms. T^3 Regional Conference – June 9, 2012

The 2012 Regional Conference will be held at Kennesaw State University (Kennesaw, GA) and is co-sponsored by KSU and Cobb County Schools. This is a great opportunity for math and science teachers to have a great time, build your teaching skills, enhance your curriculum and lead your students to higher achievement – all by learning to integrate the latest TI technology into your classroom. Whether you’re a first-year teacher or an experienced educator, you’ll get to choose from many sessions to attend, filled with hands-on activities and led by some of the most respected presenters in math and science education!
